FAQ

What areas of Photography do you specialize in?

Weddings are my main love, but I make sure to leave room in my calendar for a handful of family sessions each year (I love capturing families!). These are mostly offered as mini sessions on select dates/times/locations, which I announce via my facebook business page. I also do boudoir and engagement sessions, and a select number of newborn sessions during my wedding off-season (Jan-March).

Do you work alone or do you outsource?

I (Kelly) am the sole owner and operator of Wild Whim. I have two main assistants, Sarah and Nicole, who work on various aspects of my photography, videography and post production. Everything is done in-house and under my care. Nothing is outsourced to another company.

Who is your 2nd Shooter/Associate Shooter(s)?

I work with a talented network of fellow photographers. They are all seasoned professionals who run their own photography businesses and are seamlessly capable of taking on the role of 2nd shooter/Associate Shooter when not already committed to a wedding of their own. Sarah and Leah are my two Lead Associates and have both been working with me for 6+ years. They shoot very similarly to my style and have been trained to approach weddings with the same photojournalistic sense as I bring to my weddings. When we work together, it's often hard to tell who took what!

Do you travel?

Yes, we do take on the occasional destination wedding. Traveling takes up a bit more time and energy, but for an amazing wedding, we make it work!

We do require all travel expenses be paid by client, but are keen to work out a custom package that benefits everyone!

Are you insured?

Yes, we are fully insured and have the documentation to prove it. Many venues require wedding vendors be insured.

What equipment do you use? Do you have back-up gear?

We shoot Canon primarily. A lot to list here, but the go-to pieces are a couple of Canon R5, a Mark IV, 35 1.4, 50 1.2, 70-200 2.8, a couple 580II speedlights, etc. etc. We have back-up gear for our back-up gear. :)

How do I book a wedding and/or a portrait session? Do you hold dates?

First get in touch with me to make sure I am available on your date (if I'm not, I will be sure to pass along some wonderful recommendations). If I am and we've had a chance to connect about your wedding, you will need to sign/send in an agreement and pay the flat non-refundable $500 deposit, as either check or cc payment. Dates are never held and only locked in upon receipt of agreement + deposit.

How long before I get my images?

Turnaround on portrait sessions is typically around 3 weeks. For weddings, it's 8-10 weeks. Of course, I do try to move as quickly as possible. These amounts are general and are subject to change based on time of year and other variables.

Do I get ALL of the images or just ones you've edited?

All of the images you receive from me will be edited (color corrected, etc.). 20-30% of your collection will be re-touched and/or artistically enhanced (skin touch-ups, additional color edits, etc.).

Weddings typically yield 600-800 images; Full Portrait sessions yield 75+ images.

**I make sure to share with you multiple full collections prior to booking, so you know fully what to expect from me regarding your collection

Do I own the copyright to the images in my collection?

I retain the copyright, but you have printing rights and can post your images as you'd like. The copyright ensures that you may not alter the photos in any way, nor may you enter them in competitions, etc. without my consent.

I called you last week. You returned my call with an email. Why?

For me, the only way I can truly stay consistent and organized is if I keep everything in writing. For one, it makes for nice reference; and two, I am a night owl. I do most of my office work at night, when babies + hubby are fast asleep.

Do you do elopements and/or out of the box weddings?

Yes! Please inquire for special rate pricing.
